Only around 10% of all semi-trailers are craneable – a real problem?

2025/07/03

Semi-trailers account for around 70% of freight traffic on Germany's roads. So how can we shift more goods from road to rail?

CargoBeamer wants to tackle this problem with its own solution: By using so-called baskets, non-craneable semi-trailers can also be handled in existing terminals. In CargoBeamer's own terminals, which specialize in automated horizontal transshipment, semi-trailers for an entire freight train can be transshipped within a short time. Another perspective for CT.

Many thanks to Jonathan Schröer from CargoBeamer, who gave our students at the House of Logistics and Mobility exciting insights into how this technology can strengthen combined transport in Germany and Europe outside of the lecture hall.
