Layout design and material flow analysis for a green-field site

The coating plant Rentrop, which was established in 1929, provides its customers anticorrosive coating by zinc coatings and galvanizing as well as other services like phosphatizing for their products. Even though the coating plant is running over decades it still offers the demanded qualities just in time with certified production processes. Due to the close contact to universities and unions various research topics are jointly developed and implemented on-site.

The current approach focus on the implementation of state-of-the-art technology of the coating processes on a green-field site. In order to fulfill the increasing requirements of customers and new standards of the Industry 4.0, modern technologies of steerage, automation and robotics will be implemented.

With the planning of a green-field site, Rentrop can avoid production losses, enlarge its competitiveness and integrate new and more efficient technologies in its processes. The objective of the project is to develop a layout design for a new site of the Rentrop’s coating plants. The simulation-based project contains the layout and material flow planning on-site and inside the facility, in order to guarantee smooth logistics processes.
