New edition of "Logistics Study" in the Darmstadt Rhine Main Neckar region

In 2010, the IHK Darmstadt (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) and the TU Darmstadt conducted a first logistics study, which covered the regional structure of the logistics industry in the Darmstadt Rhine Main Neckar region. Based on statistics, company surveys, and interviews with experts, the structure of the industry in the region was surveyed and an assessment of the location requirements from the industry's perspective was given.

This logistics study is to be updated and expanded to derive the current requirements and needs of the industry and to contribute to the transport policy discussion. Current challenges such as passage bans for air pollution control as well as trends such as Logistics 4.0 will be included. Furthermore, the extraordinary geographical and traffic situation of the region will be highlighted and opportunities and risks for the future economic development of the regional logistics industry will be pointed out.

Relevant developments in logistics (e.g. digitalization) are to be studied in terms of their impact on the logistics industry in the region to derive, in particular, their requirements for dealing with these developments. The expanded scope of the new edition will be implemented on the one hand by extending the company survey and on the other hand by addressing specific focus topics in expert interviews.
