Automotive-Cluster Mittelhessen

Brief description

The Automotive-Cluster Mittelhessen is a network of nine companies in the automotive supply industry in Central Hessen. The common goal of the companies is to establish an internationally recognized center for the automotive supply industry in Central Hesse. The cluster was initiated in December 2006 as part of the CEO Hessen initiative and has since been managed by the Chair of Cluster and value chain management (headed by Professor Elbert) at the Technical University of Darmstadt. The research aims to develop management methods and instruments to realize competitive advantages through cooperation within the cluster.

Project focuses

Fields of activity of the Automotive-Cluster Mittelhessen are sales (e.g. training and lectures by external experts on selected sales topics, best-practice events in the field of contract management), purchasing (e.g. cooperations in operative purchasing, best practice on selected procurement topics, resource bundling and structure in strategic purchasing), research & development (e.g. implementation of R&D competence field analyses, project cooperations)
