Congratulations to “Dr.” Michael Gleser for his successful disputation!

2024/05/27

On 24 May 2024, Michael Gleser successfully defended his doctoral thesis on “Combined Rail-Road Transport in Europe” – hats off to him and high praise from the entire team.

During his time at our Chair, Michael Gleser has worked extensively and successfully on topics relating to the challenges and potential of combined transport. His dissertation deals with two important aspects of Combined Transport: The identification of improvement potentials should show possibilities towards an efficient and effective Combined Transport in Europe. Furthermore, the effects of CO2 pricing on the competitive situation of port hinterland transport in NRW and on the trans-Eurasian rail corridor were examined in two case studies.

Read more about the results on the identification of improvement potentials in combined transport in Europe here.

Many thanks also go to Hans-Christian Pfohl for taking on the second opinion and to his colleagues at the Technical University of Darmstadt: Dirk Schiereck as chairman and Viola Schmid and Volker Nitsch as members of the review board.
