Outstanding achievements deserve an award!

To acknowledge academic achievements, awards are given. Among these are selected research projects such as theses and dissertations supervised by the Chair of Management and Logistics. Below you will find a list of the awards received.

Aylin Altun receives the Best Presentation Award from the European Logistics Association

Aylin Altun was awarded the Best Presentation Award at the 29th ELA Doctorate Workshop of the European Logistics Association in Naples, Italy. In front of 20 doctoral students from all over Europe, she presented her research work on “Single Wagon Load Transport and the Impacts of its containerisation through innovative freight wagons,” which was supervised by Prof. Ralf Elbert. The award was presented by Prof. Hans-Christian Pfohl.

Tobias Nennstiel receives the thesis award by Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) e. V.

During the German Logistics Congress (International Supply Chain Conference) of the Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V., the “Thesis Award” is presented annually to students for excellent theses. Tobias Nennstiel was awarded the “Thesis Award” of the BVL for his outstanding performance in his bachelor thesis “Integration of the product characteristics color and weight into the consideration of manual order picking” at the Chair of Management and Logistics. The Chair Management and Logistics congratulates Tobias Nennsiel on this success.

During the German Logistics Congress (International Supply Chain Conference) of the Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V., the “Thesis Award” is presented annually to students for excellent theses. Joshua Bär was awarded the “Thesis Award” of the BVL for his outstanding performance in his bachelor thesis “Simulation-based comparison of transport costs of supply chain scenarios in a global logistics and production network” at the Chair of Management and Logistics. The Chair Management and Logistics congratulates Joshua Bär on this success.

From 22nd to 26th October the 34th German Logistics Congress with over 3400 participants took place in Berlin. High-level representatives of research and business presented and discussed about recent developments and challenges fitting the motto of the congress “Neu denken – Digital leben” (“Think new – live digitized”). Lilian Rohde was nominated for the thesis award of BVL by the Chair of Management and Logistics for her outstanding performance in the context of her master thesis “Examination of information exchange processes in the context of critical infrastructures – a simulation-based approach”. She received the prize during the congress. The Chair of Management and Logistics congratulates Lilian Rohde for this success.

Eszter Knobloch received the advancement award for her master thesis “Pick by Vision in manual order picking – a requirements analysis” by the Gender Equality Officer. The prize is awarded yearly by the Department of Law and Economics to graduates with outstanding theses during the graduation ceremony. The Chair of Management and Logistics congratulates Eszter Knobloch for this exceptional performance and wishes her good luck for the future.

For his master thesis “Cross-Sectional Optimization of Transportation in Airfreight Handling with Application to Lufthansa Cargo’s Hub in Frankfurt” our research associate Jan-Karl Knigge received this year’s August Euler-aviation award. The award for outstanding theses in the area of aviation was granted by the research group on aviation on 6th July 2017. The thesis was supervised by the Chair of Multimodality and Logistics Technologies in cooperation with Lufthansa Cargo.

The 33rd International Supply Chain Conference organized by Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) e. V. took place in Berlin from 19th to 21st October 2016 and was ministerially and royally supported with more than 3,300 participants. Many high-ranking representatives presented their latest developments around the focal topic “Digital Transformation”. Moreover, Anne Friedrich was awarded the Thesis Award for an extraordinary performance in her master thesis “Modelling the relationship between shipper and forwarder in the context of the modal split”.

In 2015, two theses were prized with the advancement award for outstanding theses by graduates from the Department of Law and Economics. One of the awardees is Antonia Voss who wrote her thesis about verification and validation of agent based simulation models at the Department of Management and Logistics.

For his outstanding performance in the context of his master thesis on the topic “An analysis of the impacts of picker-blocking on the process efficiency in manual order picking – a simulation based approach” David Crusius was awarded the Thesis Award which is presented annually by BVL, in the context of the International Supply Chain Conference, for outstanding theses.

At the 31st International Supply Chain Conference from 22nd to 24th October 2014 Daniel Reinhardt was awarded the Thesis Award for his outstanding performance in the context of his master thesis on the topic “Market potential of hybrid drive vehicles for logistics service providers”. The Thesis Award is presented annually by BVL in the context of the International Supply Chain Conference.

The Department of Law and Economics congratulates Anne Friedrich for being awarded the advancement award of the equal opportunity commissioner for outstanding theses by female graduates of the department in 2014. The thesis “An analysis of drivers and barriers for and against the introduction of combined traffic” was written in the context of the project “KoVoS” – combined road and rail transport. The project of the research association Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) e. V. was promoted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy due to a resolution of the German Parliament.

The Thesis Award is presented annually by Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) e. V., in the context of the International Supply Chain Conference, for outstanding theses. In 2012 Cora Bogusch and Holger Pontow received the award for their outstanding performance. Holger Pontow completed his diploma thesis “Business modelling in the maritime transport chain. An import based examination of selected agents in rail-based hinterland traffic”. Cora Bogusch wrote her diploma thesis “The transition to flexible prices in long-term contracts as insurance against price risks from the view of an air cargo forwarder” at the Chair for Logistics Services and Traffic of the TU Berlin under the direction of Prof. Dr. Elbert.
