Logistics and freight transport systems are characterized by a high degree of division of labor and complexity as well as being influenced by a multitude of operational and regulatory factors. Our research focus area "Analysis" revolves around the analysis of interactions between different actors in intermodal transport, urban logistics, and cross-actor transport platforms

Our goal is to use simulation-based analyses and qualitative methods to investigate the influencing factors and interactions in the context of logistics and freight transport systems in order to derive recommendations for action and application-oriented solutions.

The thematic emphasis of our research area “Analysis” is especially on the analysis of intermodal transport chains, urban logistics systems and cross-actor transport platforms. In this context, our research aims to analyze the complex interactions of the multitude of operational and regulatory factors in order to derive recommendations for action and application-oriented solutions. Exemplary research questions include the analysis of the effects of transport policy measures on urban logistics systems, decision-making behaviour in the choice of transport modes in seaport hinterland transport, and the influence of cross-company information systems in transport order processing.
