The lecture gives a comprehensive insight into all aspects of managing a cargo airline as well as their role in the global supply chain. Essential learning content relates to products, services, customer relationships, network planning and capacity management, technology and innovations in airfreight as well as the political and regulatory environment. The contents are enriched and explained based on practical examples from the perspective of one of the leading global airfreight companies.
The students should gain a comprehensive understanding of the importance of airfreight, the role of (cargo) airlines in the global supply chain as well as the specific tasks in operational and strategic management of an airline. A focus of the lecture will be to illustrate what have been learned and discuss it based on concrete practical examples.
The course is examined through oral presentations and participation during the course.
