Research project “KoVoS” – combined road and rail transport
How can a medium-sized forwarding company adapt its business model to respond to environmental changes? This is the core question of the AiF-Project KoVoS. In this project the combined modes of transport and behavioural patterns of different players are investigated by the Technische Universität Darmstadt. The results of the project should help forwarders to select the right transportation mode. Forwarders have the possibility to check their production concept via a web-based guideline. Moreover, the guideline supports the decision-making of forwarders whether to use a combined road and rail mode of transport. Therefore, the guideline takes the individual requirements of forwarders into account.
Another objective of the project is to increase the awareness of medium-sized forwarders for combined road and rail transport. Further, the guideline is especially designed for medium-sized forwarders to provide assistance to implement combined transport services.
